Most kids' bonnets are made from a thin single layer of polyester in a satin weave. Ours are made with two layers of the highest quality grade 6A, organic Mulberry silk. This makes them luxurious, yet lightweight and breathable, to protect the moisture of skin and hair.
We designed our bonnets with small heads in mind, and carry multiple sizes. Our silk bonnets for kids are designed for a snug fit, from 18 months to 18 years. Parents of even the most active sleepers can rest easy knowing their child's hair is protected through the night. And if it's not quite right, we'll exchange it for free.
The long ties on other bonnets can fall off during sleep and end up around a child's neck. Our bonnets feature a built-in safety loop, to keep ties safely in place all night.

The band, ties, and crown of Sleepy Strands bonnets are made entirely of 100% grade 6A, 19 momme Mulberry silk.
Our silk is OEKO-TEX Made in Green certified. This goes beyond the Standard 100, indicating that a third party certified that our materials were:
1) Safety tested and do not contain harmful substances,
2) Made in environmentally responsible facilities, and
3) Made in socially responsible and safe workplaces

We recommend sizing up for wearers with especially thick hair or high volume styles
You know your child's hair best! We recommend sizing up so there's enough space in the bonnet to fit all of their hair comfortably.
If you can't get a good fit between head size and the need for hair space, please let us know. We provide free refunds, and would love to notify you of new designs that may be a better fit!
We've paid special attention to designing for a perfect fit:
1) One size doesn't fit all. Our bonnets come in 3 sizes to accommodate even the smallest heads as children grow.
2) Elastic in the back and long ties make our bonnets adjustable, so kids within the full age range of each size get a firm and comfy fit.
3) Even the best fitting bonnet might slip during an active night of tossing and turning. Our Safety Loop helps ties stay in place on top of the head instead of around the neck.
If all else fails and the bonnet still slips forward, the right size bonnet still won't cover a child's face while sleeping.

It can take a while for kids to get used to wearing a bonnet, but there are several ways you can encourage them:
For longest life, hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent, and leave out to dry.
For quick machine wash, place the bonnet in a laundry bag (the same you'd use for delicates or baby socks). Use cold water and a gentle cycle, then leave out to dry.
Do not tumble dry or iron with high heat.
